Not feeling the linen…

…or to be honest, I’m feeling it too much. Yup I got linen bedding a while ago because it was a trend, two friends I visited had truly lovely linen-dressed beds and I’ve got no control over my purchasing impulses. In all honesty I got a cheaper cotton sheet (fitted Ros, deal with it) and only a linen duvet cover in the same blush pink colour – linen’s an expensive trend dudes. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know I think it looks nice, but I’m really not digging the feel of it (and therefore am quite thankful for the cotton sheet). Here it is.

How do you like my kind of disgusting colour scheme? I love it. The light was a bit funny when I took that photo but it’s pretty true to life. That bed would definitely look more fabulous with some sort of blanket slung over it but good grief it’s hot at night just now and I’ve not sorted a summer duvet. To compound this, my linen duvet cover, which is from Merci, is flipping massive even though I measured up my duvet before buying it online and so it needs tucked under so it doesn’t trail around the floor. Every night involves a slow but steady temperature climb before a frantic moment of thrashing trapped legs desperate to get out for air. Too much info?

To return to my point, if you’re tempted to get linen sheets I urge you to go and spend some time in a showroom lying around on linen dressed beds. Make sure you really rub your bare legs against them to get the full effect. Don’t be embarrassed, I once saw Orlando Bloom doing pretty much that in Peter Jones on the King’s road.*

* Ok he was lying quite still and his legs were not bare.

exactly Anne. Rachel – thanks and good to know yours softened up but I think mine are matured now and still a bit scratchy. The green is Green Smoke Farrow and Ball. It was a bit scary when first done, hence al the soft pink around the place.

I love this colour scheme. What green is that?

I have ‘washed’ (me neither) linen duvet and pillowcases from Made. They were a little hopsacky to start with but they’ve softened up a treat. Lovely and cool in the summer. Didn’t go for linen undersheet either though. Might have started to feel like a monk.
