While checking out the shops (and trying to resist the sales) in Copenhagen last weekend, I came across Bøgebjerg Antik (Kompagnistræde 25 st th, 1208 Copenhagen), the perfect souvenir shop. By perfect, I don’t mean that it stocked “I heart Copenhagen” shirts in every size, and there was not a Carling fridge magnet or a Little Mermaid statue in sight. Just lots of lovely little knick-knacks that you will probably never need, but somehow you can justify anything (except an “I heart Copenhagen” t-shirt) when it’s a holiday purchase.
While my friend was prompted to buy white owl candlesticks, my eyes were drawn to this lovely modernist birdhouse. How could any self-respecting finch turn its beak up at this beautiful Scandinavian villa? I can see the estate agent’s blurb now “Nestled away in the heart of the city, this is the ideal family retweet.” Love the balcony and it has even got its own little birdhouse!
