Doll Ebay: the idea with legs?

My Friend recently shared some ideas we had for our own online magazine, but was baffled to find the words ‘Doll Ebay’ in her notes. Well, allow me to shed some light. To feature celebrities without a photography (or indeed magazine) budget, we planned to doctor Barbie, Ken and Sindy dolls to look like the celebrities we interviewed, photograph them for the feature, then auction them off on Ebay. Eureka! Maybe we planned on using the proceeds of each sale to invest in more dolls, I don’t recall and our inspired idea never saw the light of day. However, I just stumbled across these, which I think come from the same spiritual place.

It’s Bette Davis!

And André Previn! You can find more at The Curious Eye. Apparently a man called Sean sells the dolls and the pattern books for them at his Sunday stall on Ezra street, just off Columbia Road. He even has the pattern for Prince Charles. Think he’ll have Janet Street Porter?

Oh great! I love the unusual choices of person, especially Mr Andre Preview. He must have the Street-Porter on his stall, surely.

I love Mr Preview. He has all of the right stitches, but not necessarily in the right order.
