Top tiles

I just stumbled across this old (wonky) tear sheet from a yonks-ago issue of Elle Deco and was bold over again by the concrete tiles by Eileen Elliott. She won various design awards for them back in 2005. The tiles are hand printed with images of Persian and kilim rugs, apparently taken from books on Eastern treasures.

A quick sniff around for more of the same uncovered these: Clockwise from top left Dechirer Decor tile by Patricia Urquiola, Lace tile by Jethro Macey, Walledpaper panels by Eric Barrett of Concrete Blond.

I HAVE CRAVED THESE TILES FOR YEARS! Managed to specify the Patricia Urquiola ones for cladding a bar in a ‘discothèque’, but then the client decided instead to go for, wait for it, ‘nice’ ribbed red carpet tiles. He didn’t understand the difference between the two. Oh dear.

Ah the classy carpet tile. He sounds like the kind of client interior designers dream of working for.
