Skate Girls of Kabul

What are the chances you can make it to the Saatchi Gallery today? I just found out about this two-week exhibition on its last day helpfully, but maybe it’ll move on somewhere you can make it to. Skate Girls of Kabul is a collection of portraits by photographer Jessica Fulford-Dobson focussing on young girls from poor or displaced families who attend a programme called Skateistan. This is a non-profit organisation aimed at teaching girls and street-working children how to skate while trying to get them back into education. The organisation calls it ‘sport for development’ and it sounds like a progressive idea for a country where girls are not allowed to ride a bike.
