Lisbon part II: Factory, tinned fish + lav-chic

Let’s break this down. LX Factory is the Lisbon design scene mentioned yesterday – a sort of village of design studios (plus cafes and a book shop) in a former printworks beneath an enormous 1960s flyover blight. And lo it was shut when we went on this rainy and, it turned out, public holiday. Here’s an impression of it in a series I like to call ‘through the windows’…

Bringing things neatly to design museum Mude. Housed in a former bank, the top floor was laid out with design classics plus the more obscure. But it was the temporary exhibition downstairs in the unbelievably cool room of safes (as I’m sure it’s officially known), which was best. The photograph police prevented me recording any of it. Finally traditional tinned fish shop Conserveira de Lisboa including amazing tinned-fish-wrapping lady who’s been sitting here for 30 years, but still had the grace to turn on a lovely smile for me.

    What fantastic tins. Myfriendscat would probably like a tinned fish installation.

      Yes, although the secretary apparently only approves of white for the latter.
