Guest post: Lazy boy

Design blogging is pretty heavy on the oestrogen, but as this is Gents’ Week we wanted to ask a favourite interiors blogger who is an actual live man to contribute. Here Elias from the fun and funny Social Nesting recommends a couple of man-friendly design ideas.

“My Friend’s House prompted me to think about manliness, design and where the two meet in the Venn diagram of the male blogger. So I dug deep to find the manliest of my (maybe three at a push) manly qualities. I won’t discuss the other two, but I am both ashamed and delighted to re-enter the closet as… lazy! I love shortcuts. But I also like to do lots of stuff, and this desire to create mixed with a propensity to sit down with a cup of coffee and a fag and daydream often clashes. So when I stumbled upon these, I was in love…

Bread spoons

How much easier can making bread be? These Niels Datema Bread Spoons are both things of beauty and make bread-making a breeze. Each spoon is sized to measure the five ingredients required to mix up a batch of bread dough.

They are useless (another often manly trait) at measuring anything else, but gosh are they stunning!

From cooking (LOVE) to cleaning (HATE), with the aid of the Broom Groomer.

Broom groomer

Invented by Bill Ward, this also makes sense on so many levels, especially to my neighbours who I am sure are tired of my broom-banging activities. Laziness truly is the father of invention.”

Elias uses socialnesting.com as a showcase for some of his less-manly pursuits (and to get out of doing the dishes).
