Glassmaker Michael Ruh

I discovered the glass work of designer-maker Miachael Ruh a couple of weekends ago at a Tulse Hill Artist’s Open Studios event. He works with his partner Natasha Wahl on colourful blown glass pieces including some great oversized vases and imperfect pendant lights.

Since that weekend, I’ve discovered his work is everywhere. Like in Donna Wilson’s Leytonstone kitchen.

In Ochre founder Harriet Maxwell’s New York living room.

And somewhat unbelievably, my own bathroom.

Something I picked up at an interior mag’s prop cupboard clear-out years ago turns out to be something quite good. I keep a stripey pencil and a Chinese fortune inside. I have since learnt the bottle was designed to sit inside one of Michale’s larger vases to hold flowers. That could work.

For more of his lovely pieces have a gander on his own website.
