I didn’t know what might be a fitting tribute for the passing of the great Frank Sidebottom, so I didn’t post one. Then I found this, posted on super stylist’s blog Isabelle OC. I once won a half pound packet of wine gums in a radio competition set by Frank. And I can’t hear Elvis’s The Wonder of You without reimagining it as The Wonder of Cardboard, Frank’s tribute to his puppet Little Frank. Anyhoo, love, want, covet this cushion. You know I do…

Update: Isabelle tells me it’s a birthday present made, yes, made by her friend, who runs a hilarious blog here.

The beauty of this caused me to think on other pop culture icons rendered in stitch, and go and look up Laura Donald, she of the Eastenders embroidery.

Laura Donald Eastenders It turns out she’s taken the decision to leave Dot in the launderette and Ian in the cafe for a while, to explore new crafting ideas. Like these, from her blog, Dropstich. You know how I love Big Daddy. And how about a teeny tiny vignette that won’t mean anything to you if you were born after 1979. Yes, it’s the test card girl and her sinister clown companion.
