The best ones are really rewarding, not least because they have often noticed some aspect of the picture you might have missed, or reinterpreted an aspect of it in a surprising way. Also interesting how many feature phones or technology standing in for older objects.

There are hundreds to look at, from classical sculpture to Cindy Sherman. Popular choices are Frida Kahlo, The Girl With the Pearl Earring and The Last Supper. Those are especially fun as I kept wondering how each group chose who would be Jesus.

I urge you to have a look, and let us know which masterpiece you’d fancy recreating.

Thanks for this, fantastic. I’m drawn to the Frida Kahlo ones, i love the originality of “The Ship” remake by Justin Nunnink and the dedication of the “Bedroom in Arles” remake by Joshua Louis Simon. “The Treachery of Images” remake by Cine Maza is clever too. God I could look at these all day. Must get on with some work!

Who doesn’t want to create their own Frida Kahlo, right? Extra respect to the men who gave that one a go too. I really enjoyed the remake of Girl Reading Letter By Window (not its exact name!) where the girl is now holding a white cordless phone (remember them). Thanks for commenting
