Affordable geometric rugs

I’ve been hunting around again for affordable rugs. I want something that fits with my room, below – a grey, semi-industrial floor and soft pink walls. I’d like a geometric print to give the room a more modern edge. And I want something big, yo! No doormats here please.

Farrow & Ball Middleton pink

Rugs are a bit of a bug-bear. There are gorgeous rugs available at the high-end specialists of course, but affordable rugs designed with seasonal trends in mind are pretty hard to track down. I can’t seem to keep a rug clean for more than a month – between me spilling red wine, the fire spitting sparks and the cat doing her thing – so I’m loath to drop over a grand on a rug, no matter how beautiful.

  Pink and grey rug

Luckily the high street has finally got on the case with affordable rugs, and I’ve picked four that could be contenders. Lets’ start here, with a new geometric range from the Plantation Rug Company (above). Love the mix of pink, grey and a warmer stone colour. Maybe it’s a bit too pink for this particular room though.

Carpetright Chicago rug

This Chicago rug, above, from CarpetRight – one of a new collection of contemporary rugs – has a nice, simple triangle pattern, and I love that the colours are a bit richer. Warm plum and mustard would pull against the pink walls, and there’s a pleasingly random element to the print too.

Marks & Spencer Conran rug

On a similar theme of random variations, the Marks & Spencer rug above, a design by Conran for the company, offers a tribal feel to the geometric trend, and I rather like the element of chaos it introduces into the geometric theme.

IKEA PS rug

Lastly, I’m really into this, new for 2014 from Ikea’s PS range. Love the underlying texture of the wool base, which looks like the print has been embroidered over the top. Manages to be both rustic and digital-looking. What do you think?

I had exactly the same issue… in the end I found the perfect rug in B&Q of all places!

With your cushions I would go with the Chicago rug, my personal fav is the last one (New Ikea) and I am now thinking about where it could go in my place.

    Good finds, Thank you.

Like the Chicago rug. It combines most of the colours you’ve used in your room. x
