I declare a trend! And I’m calling it the Non-bathroom bathroom – stay with me. It’s the kind of bathroom that looks like a really beautiful living room, only with some carefully placed necessities – the WC, basin and such. It’s when the freestanding bath is positioned next to a huge window complete with luxury curtains or – even better – shutters, and there’s an upholstered piece of furniture nearby. It’s when the flooring is so good it can’t honestly just be the bathroom can it?

It can and here are some inspirational shots from bathroom wizards C. P. Hart to illustrate.

Who doesn’t desire parquet flooring in every room of the house? This neutral scheme even has a low-hanging statement light to make it feel non-bathroom. Speaking of which…

A different spin, but the same ideas. Monochrome bathrooms are totally on trend and this one has the added benefit of a seat-for-a-friend complete with its very own drinks table. How fancy.

Isn’t the stool/display table in the last one just gorgeous.

I love the Chelsom silver sculpture light in the top image – a real statement piece. We have just used the wall lights in a living room scheme which look stunning against Cole & Sons ‘Woods & Pears’ paper.

I love a bathroom that feels like a luxurious and relaxing space, rather than purely functional!
