New colours, old decorating dilemmas

It’s sunny, the living room is amazingly tidy because it’s deadline week at work. It’s time to show you the new velvet sofa that’s chopped the room in half. To recap, I’m still looking to fix the long blue-grey one with the rip that’s being covered up by that sheepskin rug. I’ll reveal my amazing money-saving epiphany about that at the end of this post. But first…

No matter what I do I can never get that angle to not be dark. Here’s another angle, which will show you just how much Ros and I banging on about pink on this blog has had an impact on my consumer habits.

Pink and also blue.

The great thing about all that rain this week? I’ve brought the garden chairs indoors and am enjoying them anew.

As is the cat. The next photo shows both the scope of her sniffing and the reason why I was having a problem with the new layout.

I’m totally over the room-cutting aspects of it now after drowning the whole shebang in cushions and blankets. It’s the equivalent of wearing a ‘busy’ top when you’ve got a flat chest. Wait, is it a massive chest?

Anyway, my money saving upholstery idea. Remember that Helle Jongerius sofa for Vitra, which is all tonally all the same but covered in different fabrics?

It suddenly occurred to me that by reupholstering only the three back cushions of my sofa, it would save shed loads of money. More than enough to justify the purchase of all those pink and blue things.

I’m totally doing it.

Thanks Jane. Emily it’s an old Habitat rug but has been really great, good quality and hides almost every stain.

I love the new sofa and the cushions you have on it! Looking forward to what you do with the other one : )
Haus are so lovely. About 18 months ago we bought String shelves from there and they could get them to us faster then Scandium and they are sooo much nicer then the sales people at Scandium too! We also ordered Panton chairs and some fab lights from them. All in all a great store!
