Collecting teenage bedrooms

I found myself heaving boxes out of awkward corners of the loft yesterday on an entirely different photo-finding mission when I came across something I didn’t know I had. This picture of my bedroom in my parents house, circa the early 90’s (probably). I know what you’re thinking, my knack for capturing a room’s best angle hasn’t improved much with age. But look past the overpowering curtain if you can and what’s that? Could it be wallpaper that sort of fits with my Memphis Group trend-pushing from two days ago? Is this evidence of a precocious talent for trend forecasting? No probably not, though I’ve obviously already congratulated myself on as much. What else have I learnt from looking at this photo? Well….

2. I have no memory of being the sort of person to keep nearly-nude men on my walls – in my defence, that looks like a calendar that came free with More.

3. Thirteen years on the interiors circuit has taught me something about how to display nick nacks – although to be fair on my younger self, I’m showing signs of understanding grouping with that unlikely bottle collection on the second shelf.

Loyal readers might remember when Ros featured a full set of snaps of her old bedroom and it got us thinking – we’d love to see yours. Please, please join us on our mission to collect as many teenage bedroom Real Reveals as we can. Send us your best / worst to: theantistylist@hotmail.com and we’ll publish them for all to enjoy here.
