A 300th birthday

A quick update to yesterday’s post about my grandma’s birthday that I just had to share…

I was telling the girl next to me in the office that it would have been my grandma’s 100th birthday, and about the post featuring her things (see below) when another girl opposite looked up from her phone, puzzled. She said ‘have you read my text?’

Her mum had just texted her to remind her that it would have been her grandma’s 100th birthday. We marveled at the coincidence. Toasted both our grandmas with our coffee.

An hour later, in the lift, another girl was asked what she was doing that evening. ‘It’s my grandma’s 100th birthday,’ she said. ‘We’re taking her to Claridges.’

Three grandma centenaries in one day. My grandma would have loved a 100th birthday bash at Claridges. This surely is the next best thing. She would have loved the coincidence too.

Well that’s almost spooky, in a nice way.
