Rikka ka ka ka
Bit blown away by the work of Finish illustrator Rikka Sormunen. The ladies, the colours, the patterns – it’s all a bit Klimt.
Rikka, who is based in Berlin, dropped out of a fashion degree in Helsinki to concentrate on painting and illustration instead. These prints, taken from her new book Big Mother, are full of clothing inspired by her favourite designers, including Jonathan Saunders and Dries van Noten.
I’d totally buy those trousers if they weren’t, you know, a drawing.
Fashion photography, Japanese woodcuts and Mad Men are also references for the artist.
The book is published in a limited run of 2000 by No Brow and available to buy here.

A crystal tip
Here’s a thing I’m seeing around a lot. Old crystal decanters, looking less like a dubious wedding gift and more like something to snap up at your next car boot. Below, on a bathroom window sill, used to contain bubble bath. And, Kate Jacobs’s lovely collection of amber decanters displayed in her guest bedroom. Just the […]

Nimby
Aggghhhh. I’m completely obsessed. With one of those things I always feared getting obsessed with because, a) it’s something you can’t control and b) it makes you look like a Daily Mail reader (I mean the printed one, not the Sidebar of Shame, we all know that’s fine). Yes, someone’s building something I don’t like […]
