Food corner

Despite being thursday, I was rather grandly cooking from this John Pawson / Annie Bell recipe book last night. Photographed inside JP’s own iconic house and including shots of Monsieur hanging around in khaki slacks and a white shirt, the book is meant to be an everyday guide, but I usually dig it out when I need to impress.

Or when I want to look at pictures of nice chairs. It used to have a lovely tracing paper cover by the way, but that got a bit too well thumbed.

The soup recipes inside are brilliant, especially Gingered Carrot, Beetroot and Apple, and Leek and Potato (which has loads of wine in it). I also love the very easy Middle Eastern lamb burgers and, last night’s dinner, Chicken and White Wine Stew with Gremolata (which has loads of wine in it) – note the piece of parsley in the bottom left corner. In fact that about covers the sum total of what I’ve made from the book.

No, you haven’t accidentally logged onto Goop today, I was just hungry.

I have coveted this book for years. There is a shot of his kitchen if I remember correctly, which opens wonderously [don’t know if that’s a word, suspect not] into the garden, I have been obsessed about having this architectural feature ever since [don’t know if that’s going to happen, suspect not].

PS: Know it wasn’t GOOP as there were no links to £700 socks and no quotes from the Dalai Lama.

And also, Gwyneth wouldn’t know that architecture feature if it bit her in the worked out ass.

This looks like a lovely cook book. I’ve looked it up on Amazon and I’m really tempted to buy it. GG

Ah My Friend, if I remember rightly this was a leaving present from our old work. Nice to know you’re still using it.
