Window dressing: To print or not to print

I have mixed feelings on how to dress windows. Patterned curtains can end up looking twee if you hit the wrong note – though I love my living room curtains – and simple white blinds can look (and feel) cheap, especially next to coloured walls. The temporary blinds in my bedroom (now four years old and no longer eligible for that category) are definitely in the latter camp. It’s time to work out whether to replace them with a much nicer version of the same or whether this room can take another print – definitely not to match the wallpaper, I hate that.  So folks, here’s the room. Grey mainly, with a few prints going on, my prized shop cabinet and a tall unit that’s crying out to be painted dark dark grey. I hear the cry, anyway. Sometimes daily and nightly.

Pretty bedroom design ideas

I’ll let you know when I’ve come up with the solution for the windows. Any thoughts welcome…

PS That shot of books is pretty irrelevant, but I couldn’t stop myself.

I’m glad someone else has a curtain dilemma, I’ve got some nice ’50s pattern in one window, and now I’m uhmming and ahh-ing about some grey linen-y stuff for the bigger window. Such a big decision!

Very big. Grey linen-y you say? Hmm, that’s an idea I can see working here too….
