Trend or travesty?

You know you’re a bit boringly obsessed with interior design when you see a lovely shot of Dennis Severs’ house and you hone in on the tinniest of details. Can you see the shell light on the wall underneath that painting?

For some reason the shell light has become an object of interest for moi. The first one was spotted in Beauberry House, Dulwich at one of the Cavaliero Finn shows a while back…

Shell light | Interiors ideas | My Friend's House What do you reckon, trend or travesty? Kitsch or Kool? Picture it in a moody, sexy dark room or on top of some loud deco-ish wallpaper before you answer that. It’s all about the context I reckon.

normally quite open minded and totally get the picturing it a certain setting but personally, not for me !
As a ‘light’ I think it looks a bit ‘cheap’ (I am sure of course it is anything but!)
However, an an ‘objet d’art!’ I quite like it and would have on the wall …. just take out the electrics
    🙂

Too small to do the job of lighting up that painting. It would make a nice nightlight though.
