The Pound shop

That’s The Poundshop founders George Wu and Sara Melin, and you read right, I said The Poundshop. Together with another Sarah (Gottlieb) the duo set up their concept back in 2010, hoping to harness their love of shopping with a greater aim of making design accessible to the masses. They achieved the latter by selling things in only £1, £5 or £10 price bands, just like your local pound shop. But, rather than hocking tat, the organisation has worked with designers to create affordable-but-cool bits and bobs. Such as £1 clip boards, door stops, coasters, cards, notebooks and superior balloons (glitter innit).

Pop up Pound shop Selfridges My Friend's House I like that sleepy toast coaster and the £5 notebooks would make great Christmas presents. I just said Christmas, get over it.

Here’s what one of the pop ups (in Manchester) looked like.
