Grey gripe II

Yes, the grey grumbler is back. The one with the lead lament, the stone moaner.

Thanks for the great comments about my grey stresses – I loved reading your own recommendations for colours that might work. I noticed a few suggestions for Cornforth White, as shown in the picture below, by Farrow & Ball.

Cornforth White

This looks so smart. This is exactly what I’m after. But behold, how it looks in the dreaded north-facer that is my front room.

It’s the menacing cloud lurking in the alcove on the left of the picture. And also, more pleasingly to my eyes, the bit immediately behind the paint tin. They’re on the same wall but look wildly different. Weird huh? But don’t think for a moment I’m defeated.

That was what I was reminded of when I saw these illustrations by Emily Robertson, done for Italian furniture company Molteni & C. I love the detail, giving you more the […]

Peake district

A rare moment when I’ve bought something I want for someone else. Not that I’ve handed it over yet, mind. I was very pleased to happen upon this charming drawing in Magma that seems perfect as a wedding present for some bike enthusiast friends of mine. Did I mention I hadn’t handed it over yet? I […]

Grey grief

I’m in a grey grump. Yes, like everybody else with any sense, I want a grey living room, preferably at some point before it becomes terribly passe. And the clock is ticking, yo! But no matter what sort of grey I choose it just looks wrong on the actual wall. And my living room is […]
