Ochre inspired by Aalto?

A quick Check-This-Out for your friday before the holiday weekend (WOOOP). Ochre launched some great pieces at Clerkenwell Design Week including this leather-wrapped chair called Caribou – pictured with the Celestial Pebble light and Whippet table. First thing, all of those product names seem right to me.

Secondly, what about the colour on that chair? That’s a good navy, the right navy. Caribou also comes in taupe, red and burgundy – the latter of which you can see in my considerably more ropey photo.

But rather than reminding me of a reindeer my thoughts about the chair immediately went to bike handles and an Alvar Aalto building detail that you’re going to love.

It’s a handrail inside the Finlandia Hall building in Helsinki and if you want to see more of it, read this post on a blog that’s entirely dedicated to the Aalto’s architecture.

I’m very taken by that Whippet table (and as a Yorkshire lady love the name!). Have a feeling it might be a touch out of my price range at the moment though…

Interesting blog on the Finlandia Hall building – it’s not to my usualy taste but then there are elements of the interior and certain bit of attention to detail like the handrails, lighting and door handles that I love.

Glad you like it Kath, that table is rather amazing and particularly so in the flesh.
