Modern art quiz
Just a quick question to you today. I’m looking for a bit of help with a picture I just bought. It looks to me like another cheap reproduction of a famous painting – aka my new favourite thing. I picked it up in Aladdin’s Cave along with the little Gauguin in the frame. The Gauguin I was able to identify as ‘The White Horse’ without too much trouble, but the one on the right… let’s just say Googling ‘Modern art still life green table apples jug’ really didn’t get me anywhere. I guess the old table-jug-apples-plant thing is a common still life combination.
It has a gaudy but unreadable signature on the painting too. So, can you help out? Time to flex those art school muscles and put me out of my ignorance. Is my bargain basement board-art a repro of a classic, or just a repro of some kitsch rip-off thingy? Either way I don’t mind. I love it and have just the place for it in my rouges gallery in Margate.
Is it possible to see a close up of the signature?
