Farewell beautiful wallpaper

Well this is a decorating blog, so if you’re going to witness grown people saying an emotional goodbye to wallpaper somewhere then it’s going to be here. I’ve lived with a lovely blush pink Neisha Crosland wallpaper in my bedroom for seven years. I haven’t stopped loving it – though I always wished we’d papered right up to the ceiling – but what’s been happening in the bathroom next door has kind of altered my thoughts about what will work in this room. This is the view from the bathroom – still going, 6 weeks and counting – into the bedroom, wallpaper just glimpsed.

The walls on the left of the bathroom are going to be nude pink toning so nicely with the wallpaper next door that my plan was to paint the walls of the bedroom surrounding the paper pink too – finally achieving the up-to-ceiling look. If you’re still with me right now, congratulations…

The rest of the bathroom is all grid and black though, which feels a bit out of sorts next to floral wallpaper. I’d also fixed on the rest of the bedroom being Green Smoke (blob of it just seen below) and in the end I decided that having one whole length of wall papered/painted pink would look weird next to this. So it’s a reluctant and a bit nervy goodbye to the wallpaper.

And a hello to a lot of time spent picturing printed curtains instead. Like this fabulous Elley Kishimoto geo-print below, which of course is not available to order – Ros just saw it at the studio tour the other week.

Why do I always fixate on the out-of-reach stuff? Any alternative ideas gratefully received and if you can find something with three colours in it like the EK one I’ll be impressed, amazed and delighted.

Thanks Helen, it’s very cool and all the same colours. I’m still finding it hard to not want the EK one though!

not the same colours but rather lovely all the same (and sort of if you squint your eyes and tilt your head there’s something rather similar about it in a not so similar sort of a way) http://www.stjudesfabrics.co.uk/collections/our-fabrics/products/colourdrome
