Castle for sale – another one to pitch in for?

If I’ve got my facts straight – the web can be a confusing landscape – then this little 16th Century castle for sale in Perth and Kinross is the one that Architect and writer Michael Spens commissioned Eduardo Paolozzi to do some ceiling panels for back in 1971. It’s called Cleish Castle and it’s got a maze in the garden. It’s on for a mere 1.5k, but if you live in London and ever look at the property pages with some disgust, this will sound almost like a bargain.

Need to flag up before I present the pics that the Paolozzi ceiling panels are long gone and now installed in the Dean Gallery, Edinburgh instead – come on, they would have bumped the price right up.

I’ve been mentally, doing a little reno’ on this already so can confidently tell you it could look right up our street. The main thing to remember is that it’s a castle and not a crappy wee 1 bed in Victoria.

Want to see the old panelled ceiling now it’s in Edinburgh? You can only just make it out past Vulcan’s* head there, but it’s gorge.
